The Steamboat Pilot says that "Steamboat residents could expect 10-15" of snow accumulation by Tuesday morning"

It seems like the last few posts have just been about the weather and ... you're right! We are excited to see so much snow so early. There is no guarantee that early snow will mean a lot of snow this winter but based on past history it's a pretty good indicator. We are so excited about the early snowfall that we are planning a quick trip in early December.

 

November is here and the resort travel agencies have ended their early booking discount so we decided to continue our "Early Booking Discount" until Black Friday November 29, 2013. Downtown Steamboat

 

Downtown Steamboat is closed to traffic and filled with ghouls and goblins all participating in a safe Halloween, hosted by the merchants. This is one of the community's absolute favorite family events. Children and adults alike go all out on costumes, but costumes are not required to come down and watch. This is the place to see and be seen.

Before the first snowfall

The Rockies Association has made some improvements to the Pool and Hot Tubs area. They added new tables, chairs and lounges and they have added beautiful annuals.

 

 

 

 

 

Now with the new carpet

Here are a few photo's of the living room with the new carpet installed.

And the renovations continue

This update is more functional than beautiful.

The new living room looks make the condo very warm and inviting but many of our previous guests will appreciate the changes we have made to the guest bathroom. We have almost doubled the size of the shower. We were able to create the bigger shower by opening the voided space next to the shower and installing a new Kohler pre-fab shower system. In addition, we fixed the pocket door and installed a new  Kohler "Ecosense" Toilet.

The new shower is a full 48" wide and 36" deep with new fixtures and a raised shower head.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We also replaced the toilet in the master bathroom with another Kohler "Ecosense" toilet.

 

 

 

Our New Improvements

We have started our improvements to the Condo.

Lets start with or most significant. We have made major improvements to the living room. We installed a new, more efficient fireplace, mantle and hearth. We covered the adjacent wall with "tongue and groove" and finally we installed new carpet in the living room and dining room.

I noted it as almost the final reveal because we left before the carpet and the fireplace were installed so the picture doesn't show the final view. That photo will have to come later.

82" of Snow

That's right, 82 inches of snow since December 01, 2012! Although we were off to a slow start in December Steamboat has seen a ton of snow. We have received 36" in the last week. If you have had a chance to check out the Steamboat Web Cams go to Steamboat WebCams The snow is falling!

Snow, Snow, Snow

SNOW!

The first day we arrived there was only a few inches. It started snowing on December 14, 2012 and it hasn't stopped since. The conditions have been so good that they opened 2 more lifts and several runs. When we spoke to one of the Ambassadors they said that by Monday December 17, 2012 they should be opening the Sunshine Lift and maybe even Morningside. This video was taken at Slopeside Grill. As you can see it was snowing profusely.
